Hey friends, welcome to BURGER MONDAY. This is my new series where every Monday this month I will share a new recipe with you for a kick ass burger. Honestly burgers get a bad rap for being ‘junk’ food and truth be told they can be quite healthy and nutritious. I’m not saying eat a burger everyday, but you can ditch the fries and enjoy a burger a week. This pork and pineapple burger is a super delicious combo.

For the slaw
– 100g Purple cabbage
– 50g Carrot
– 50g Lettuce
– 2 tbsp Mayonnaise (low fat to keep the calories down)
– 1 tbsp BBQ Sauce
– 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
– Salt & pepper to taste

Method (for the slaw)
1. Mix everything well

For the burger
– 4 burger buns
– 500g ground pork
– 4 slices of pineapple
– 1 tsp chopped sage leaves
– 1 tbsp fav BBQ rub
– 1 tbsp fav BBQ sauce
– 10g butter (per bun)
– 4 cheese slices (or cheese of choice)

Method
1. Mix the ground pork with the sage, bbq rub and bbq sauce and mix well. Use a cookie cutter to shape the burger or a burger maker.
2. Butter and toast the buns on the grill
3. Grill the slices of pineapple
4. Grill the pork patties and add a slice of cheese on top after filliping.
5. Assemble with the bun, slaw, burger, pineapple and top bun.
6. Enjoy
